Day 28 - Cali (The Great Wall)

Sooo after a late night, we've committed to doing a taxi tour of the city! I figure this is a fabulous and easy way to see the city for minimal cost and I see most of what I want. I can't lie it was a hard morning, but my busy-bodiness would not allow me to say no for anything.

We started with Cristo Rey, one of the most emblematic scultpures in Cali. It offers an amazing view of the city.

Sweeping views of the city. Too bad it was cloudy!

Then I saw the most amazing artistic designs I have ever laid eyes on. It's know as the geoglifosdecali by Carlos Andres Gomez.

The kicker is all the "paintings" you have seen are actually clay designs of sorts. He carves and paints these murals out of the clay on the side of the rocks. He does this on the weekend, gratis. Some represent Jesus and the burden he carried. The city is representative of what he wants to visit. I cannot remember the whole story. He's been working on this one for 16 weeks. It's unfortunate that some gangs ruined his other works. Now the police are posted outside of this area.

Here are some pictures of some famous sites and downtown/ish of Cali.
Museo Arqueologico La Merced

There was a wedding going on here. How classic of a car?!

Iglesia de San Antonio

Teatro Municipal Enrique Buenaventura

Now sure what this was called..

Sculptures in the Parque de los Poeta

The Clean Metro, Miso, of Cali

ChipiChapa, this massive shopping center and the ladies bathroom

Now let me preface this next photo as inappropriate.. but some people here eat fried chicken with a plastic glove. I must try this.

It was Mercedes Montano, an international dance festival, in cali. We went to one of the free shows they were having. But en route, we had this ohh so tasty pastry called ..iono.. I'm still looking for the name. yummy!

Then I had some corn on the cob, oh my!

The show was comprised of several Colombian countries and they danced their traditional dances.

The evening comes and I am outdone tired.. before you know it, I'm sleep early. I suppose this is okay considering I plan to do the Cerro de las Tres Cruces, a hill embellished with three big crosses from which the whole city is visible. The other emblematic symbol in Cali. But boo anyway!
